Beat Train is simply the best. We hired Ari for our wedding and he had everyone on the dance floor. He was so considerate and in tune with our musical interests while still making sure the beats had enough universal appeal to even get Uncle Tom on the dance floor. He was extremely professional and didn’t have any of the cheesy gimmicks a lot of DJs use at weddings. He was very committed to not playing anything that was on our “do not play” list. We had a couple of guest come up to us and tell us that Ari needed our permission to play a couple of songs such as “Cotton Eyed Joe” or whatever that song is called. Ari arrived looking sharp in suit, skinny tie, and classic black framed glasses. He brought his turntable and his computer and set up everything very compactly in the corner. He has a natural read on the vibe and kept it going from immediately after dinner until they closed us down. Most impressive about Beat Train is Ari’s immediate responsiveness and willingness to meet and discuss any aspect of the party planning as many times as we needed to to feel comfortable. In short, if you want a DJ that you can trust that will keep your friends talking for months after the party, Ari is your guy.
Ari was so easy to work with from the very first time we contacted him about our October 29, 2010 wedding. We had been to several wedding the year before and all the DJs had one thing in common… super cheesy games and corny wedding music. We were looking for the exact opposite and that’s exactly what Ari provided. Our guests keep telling us how much fun they had and how great the music was. Beat Train is fantastic! Our friends’ band was kind enough to play two sets at our reception; where they left off, Ari picked up. He was excellent to work with from start to finish: professional, punctual, and detail-oriented. He was game to work around our band and came up with a set list that complemented their Brit-pop stylings. The dance floor was packed the entire night–a friend of ours actually danced the soles of his shoes clean off! Ari checked in with us through the evening if he had questions and did not make many announcements; he was very subtle. He played all of the songs we suggested during dinner (some of them obscure/eclectic) which made us feel like it was really “our” party. He also provided some uplighting. Ari really understood our wacky/indie/obscure tastes and his work aligned with it perfectly. He did his homework on the styles of music we liked and played tunes that appealed to all ages of guests. I would recommend Ari and Beat Train without reservation!
The total opposite of the stereotypically loud, “cheesy” wedding DJ, Ari read the crowd perfectly and lined up music accordingly, rather than leading the crowd as some wedding DJs do. Aside from announcing the wedding party and letting everyone know that the cake was to be cut, there were no pleas to get people dancing, no YMCA or games. Some guests said it felt more like we were in a hip, loungy club rather than at a wedding. We received countless compliments from our guests on the music. He brought all of his own equipment and got there early to set up. Very professional. DJ Ari comes highly recommended!
Ari was an awesome wedding DJ. We met with him before hand to discuss our music taste and requests. He was 100% professional and personable, my wife and I felt at ease talking with Ari. He was familiar with our reception venue and handled all communication with the venue event planner. We did not have to lift a finger, which is MUCH appreciated with all the other details we were juggling. Ari sent us a form in advance to fill out which covered all our “must play” and most importantly “must not play” list. In addition, the document asked about our music taste. At the event, Ari’s music choices hit the nail on the head. He was right on time with the old school, the upbeat dance music, the top 40’s and the slow dance music. He knew when the music should be lower and when it should be pumped up! The party was amazing and still being talked about among our friends and family. The music can make or break an event, and in this case, it MADE the event. I am a music lover and needed the music to be on point- Ari hooked us up! He was also great making announcements and MCing when necessary. If you want an awesome DJ who is professional, wears a really nice suit, and pays close attention to details- go with Beat Train!
When we were first looking for a DJ we were both amused and disturbed by what we saw; cheesy DJs with gaudy vests, touting their thirty years of radio experience, with videos of them exhorting wedding guests to do the chicken dance or the electric slide. This was not what either of us wanted for our wedding, and we were quite pleased to stumble upon the Beat Train Productions website and read the extremely favorable reviews.
As Ari so eloquently put it when he first met with us, he uses his skills as a DJ to get people to dance. Ari brings a new standard of professionalism to the mobile DJ industry. This professionalism was evident in every single interaction with him which included our first meeting with him, a follow up meeting which he initiated prior to our wedding, a meeting with our onsite wedding coordinator, follow up calls to clarify final details, and of course the wedding itself which he showed up 3-4 hours early to setup.
For our reception, we had specific music in mind targeted to a 30-something crowd. Ari clearly understood our requests, but took them to next level, above and beyond our expectations. From the very first dance song, people were out of their seats and the floor was crowded all night long. We have received so many compliments from our guests about how great the music was. Many people commented on how Ari was able to keep so many guests up and dancing all night!
It’s hard for one to be objective about one’s own wedding, but a greater portion of the guests were dancing for a greater portion of the evening than any wedding either of us had been to. Everyone raved about the DJ and the music. We couldn’t imagine anyone having done a better job. Many thanks to Ari for making our night so special, memorable and most of all, a great time!

Ari is the best! I booked Ari after meeting with him and doing some research on other DJs. He’s much more low-key and completely understood that we wanted a DJ who could read a crowd and get people on the dance floor. We had a rather small wedding of about 65 people and people were on the dance floor the whole night. He catered to our tastes and always asked me before changing something in the timeline. I HIGHLY recommend Ari. I wish I could have another event just to have Ari DJ the wedding. You seriously can’t go wrong with him.
The reason why I booked Ari was because he wasn’t your “typical” wedding DJ and understood my needs, as I wanted more of a party feel to my wedding than formal and stuffy. He totally exceeded my expectations, which were already set VERY high after being in the wedding industry for several years and working with so many DJs (AND, of course, after planning my wedding since forever ago!) He also provided great customer service (always remaining professional, prompt responses to emails, etc.), which was also very important to me as a bride managing so many responsibilities throughout the process. My husband (who doesn’t usually dance at weddings – he didn’t get off the dance floor!) and I had an amazing time dancing (my #1 priority) and so did our guests.
The music at our wedding was fantastic all thanks to Ari. We provided him with general information about our musical tastes and with this small amount of information he created a full-night’s worth of music that had guests from 20 to 60 years old dancing. After meeting with other DJs, we knew that Ari wasn’t going to employ any of the other cheesy tactics most wedding DJs do (gimmicks, props, etc). Everyone keeps telling us how great the music was at our wedding and how much fun they had. The best part about having Ari as our DJ was that I didn’t have to worry about creating a long, detailed playlist. He knew what to play to keep the crowd on their feet for over 2 hours. To sum up, Ari killed it at our wedding.
After doing some research on the web we approached Ari because of the sample mixes he has posted on his website. My husband and I have somewhat eclectic tastes in music and it seemed he was exactly what we were looking for. We were right because he nailed it! Ari is extremely professional to work with and makes sure he understands what kind of music you’re looking for during each segment of the event. We didn’t have to bother with playlists or have to worry about any songs we didn’t like. The music he played throughout the entire evening was awesome and exactly what we wanted. Seth Isaacs was the DJ for our wedding this past weekend. He was totally great!! He spent time talking to us ahead of time and getting a sense of what kind of music we wanted him to play. He did an awesome job of making sure everyone was having fun and dancing, and played something for everyone. Everyone from our friends to our oldest relatives hit the dance floor at one time or another and everyone had a fantastic time. Over and over, people told us “best wedding ever!!” and Seth was a big part of that. He didn’t blast us out or annoy us with patter; he only did exactly what we had talked about – no bad surprises. Plenty of pleasant ones, though – he did a great job of picking songs we hadn’t discussed but were psyched to hear. He was incredibly professional and very helpful and reassuring, when we were a bit nervous about what it would be like to have a DJ at our wedding. My husband and I really wanted a DJ who would play good music, be able to read the dance floor, and not be too much of an MC or do lots of cheesy talking — BeatTrain was perfect on all of these fronts! Seth was easy to work with and picked out a great mix of music that kept our guests happy all night.

Beat Train Productions made our wedding a great one! Through and through, a professional and friendly company. Our DJ, Seth, communicated well with us leading up to our wedding — and it paid off. His choice of songs for cocktail hour and dinner was on point. A handful of people came up to me during dinner just to note how great the music was. When it came to dancing, Seth had every guest on the dance floor with some classics that appealed to us and to the old folks. As the dancing continued, Seth trasitiioned into more modern music (as we had asked him to!) and the party kept on going. I may be biased, but upon polling our guests, the general consensus was: BEST. WEDDING. EVER! And the DJ was a big part of that. The key is that he listened carefully to our musical preferences, and then did a great job of reading the crowd. He had some great multiple song mashups and remixes thrown in there, too! He also let our bridal party request some crucial songs here and there — which was a great bonus. Bottom line: Beat Train is a great company; Seth is a fantastic DJ. We live in New York but decided to have our wedding in Boston. It was very important to us to have professional, experienced, communicative vendors on our team since we would be planning from afar. Choosing Beat Train Productions was a big win for us. During a roller coaster year-and-a-half of planning, Beat Train Productions, and specifically our DJ Seth Isaacs, made the process simple, clear and low-stress. Seth shared our disdain for cheesy announcements and gimmicks, and gave us a lot of room to share what type of music we like, what a successful event would look like, and what we would NOT want to hear. I started receiving praises for our DJ right after cocktail hour even before the actual reception began – that’s how great Seth Isaacs was during our wedding. My husband and I loved working with Beat Train Productions – they were extremely responsive, professional, and everything we could have hoped for. Our ceremony and cocktail were held outside while the reception was held inside. Seth arrived early so that he could set up both locations and he made sure he had a backup plan in case anything changed.
Before the wedding he asked us for a list of must play songs for both the cocktail hour and for dancing at the reception. Since my husband and I both have eclectic tastes, we had more of an indie vibe for the cocktail hour and a more traditional Top 40 dance mix for the reception. We gave him a few examples of the songs we liked and Seth built a playlist that we loved, loved, LOVED. He had people dancing all night long and a lot of my friends commented on how great the music was.

We wanted to do a choreographed dance to a medley of songs, and he did an incredible job mixing them together for us. I booked Ben & Sam through Ari and let me just say that all of them are fantastic and sweet. And boy, do Ben and Sam know how to get everyone moving! They played my dinner list without a hitch and found the music I requested. And when it came time to dance – they kicked it off right! I’ve been to too many weddings where only old people are on the floor doing the two step, but not at my wedding! I had opted for a less formal reception, no announced dances and no dance schedule. We had a mix of northern soul (60′s soul), 70′s glam, and brit-pop. My guests and I danced our a**es off … the music was that good. The song to song transitions were seamless. Also, judging by the photographic evidence, everyone was having a blast. The pics from the dance floor were AMAZING! Everyone had the most ecstatic expressions and best dance poses. My hair was sweaty and my smile was huge – and I stopped caring about how I looked in my gown … so you know I had a good time. There was only one thing that was wrong with the whole night – and it was my fault completely. I did have a song chosen for a parent dance, just in case, and I halfheartedly intended to dance with my dad. But because I did not have a dance schedule and because my dad and I were having so much fun, we forgot to dance with each other! Oops!!! So if you are like me and don’t want a stuffy wedding, but kind of sort of maybe intend to dance with your dear old dad … please mention it to them – they won’t let you forget.

We hired Ben and Sam for our wedding, and couldn’t be happier with the way things panned out.
We had an initial meeting with them where we had a conversation about our general likes and dislikes of music. We filled out a worksheet to help nail down what songs we absolutely needed to hear, kinda wanted to hear, and under no circumstances were to be played. A few emails later and we were walking into the reception to Heatwave.
They were so pleasant and easy to work with, with a couple of glances and nods we were able to cue them to cut our awkward first dance song, start up the mom’s favorites, and get everyone on the dance floor.
Without a doubt Ben and Sam along with Beat Train were the best addition to our wedding. You know that the DJ’s are doing something right when there’s a 21 year old getting down with the 85 year olds and you’ve already played 3 “last songs.”
We worked with Ben for our August 2010 wedding in Hanover, NH. Ben was an absolute pleasure to work with. He understood that we weren’t having a formal wedding and were not looking for cookie cutter “wedding-in-a-box” music, rather we just wanted some great cocktail music then a dance party. The music was fantastic, and really fit our crowd and particular parts of the evening. The dance floor was packed all night, and was full of people I have never seen dance (let alone smile at a wedding).
Ben and Ari were really responsive and super professional to work with. I think we only gave Ben a handful of must-play songs–and the music he played was perfect. He also accommodated our friends and their loopy requests. At the end of the night, the crowd shouted “one more song!” and Ben gave us a Bhangra send off. Picking a DJ was very important to my husband and I. We viewed it as one of the most important parts of our wedding, besides great food, because we knew that the music could make or break our reception. We really wanted our guests to have a great time and wanted non-stop dancing. We were also very sure of the types of music we DIDN’T want played – almost more sure than of the music we did want. Finally, we wanted a DJ that would be in tune with the guests at the reception. If no one was dancing, it was time to change up the music.
Sam & Ben, from Beat Train Productions did all of this and more. They were so great to work with from the early planning stages, all the way through to the wedding day. They listened to every need we had and delivered completely. The mother of the bride also had a few requirements and they were able to deliver on those as well. They totally understood our vision on what we wanted to reception to be and followed through completely. They had to Emcee the beginning of the event and did a great job. They showed that they were there to help us pull off a great wedding and really cared about us. They made us feel like they were part of our team.
Ben and Sam…one of our friends made us a wedding video that they just gave us, all edited. We got to relive the music at our wedding, and it was NASTY! It makes my heart beat a little fast when I watch it, literally everyone is dancing their asses off, people of all ages dancing to hip hop and dope reggae music. From J5 to Buju Banton, to Cat Stevens and Stevie Wonder, people were sweating and didn’t sit down for hours…Man…it was awesome. I wasn’t sure where to review you guys, but my husband Jeff and I just want to say thank you. People are still talking about the fact that it was the most fun wedding they have ever been to. Blam.
We had the good fortune to choose Ben Woods to DJ the music for my daughter’s wedding, which was held at our Inn on Cape Cod in September. We were extremely pleased with the service he provided and recommend him highly.
Ben is a professional – prompt, courteous, and well organized. But he really proved himself with his ability to fill the dance floor consistently! He seamlessly presented a great mix of music and kept everyone dancing for hours. My daughter and her fiancée wanted some control over the music, and Ben was able to accommodate all their wishes.
In our job as innkeepers we’ve had the opportunity to hear many DJs – and Ben has been our favorite by far!
Ben and Sam were seriously amazing. I can’t tell you enough to hire these guys if you want a wedding that isn’t lame.
To be fair, we eschewed most traditions, but any we wanted to keep, they happily obliged. The songs segued beautifully, from Talking Heads to Mos Def, LCD Soundsystem to Prince.
Coming from Brooklyn to wed in Cape Cod was daunting, but it was nice to know that our DJ’s would at least kick ass, thanks to the playlists they store on their website.
The dance floor was packed all night, a feat for a small wedding, and it didn’t matter if people were 80 or 20, the music was spot on the whole damn time. “Best DJ’s EVER!” was a commonly exclaimed phrase at the hitching and weeks later, at parties in Brooklyn.

My wife and I had DJ Pete at our wedding and we could not have been happier. We took our DJ search very seriously. The last thing we wanted was your typical cheeseball DJ hamming it up, all decked out in glittery lapels, yack-yack-yacking away every chance he got and spinning crap. Pete was the best. He met with us well before the wedding, was prompt with all our requests, provided guidance and rocked the house. We’ve been told people don’t dance at day receptions. Well we had the dance floor rocking all afternoon thanks to Pete. He was meticulous with details and we were not easy on him. Him and his assistant also had to carry all their gear up three plus flights of stairs because the venue we were at did not have an elevator and he never once complained about it or anything. When my wife and I had our first meeting with Ari at Beat Train Productions, we knew immediately we had come to the right place. After asking us a bit about our wedding and our tastes in music, he matched us up with Peter O’Karma, who I have to say is every bit as knowledgeable and passionate about music as Ari. Working with Pete has been a total joy. From our very first meeting through the last dance on our wedding night, Pete was completely tuned in to our needs. He had taken the time to understand Jess and I as a couple, so everything he played was totally in line with what we wanted. From the moment I saw the reviews for Ari and Beat Train online we knew we would choose them to DJ at our wedding in Boston this past June. Ari was responsive to all emails and phone calls and was very reassuring and professional. Pete recently DJ’ed for my wedding at the Boston Harbor Hotel and I would hands down hire him again in a heartbeat. We met once in person and coordinated most of the plans through email and phone. Professionally he was very responsive to all my ad hoc questions and ensured me that he was readily available to pick up my calls at any point during the day. Aside from a few selected tunes for the reception opening/closing, I wanted to be as hands off as I possibly could with the music so I left it up to Pete to read the crowd which he did an amazing job with. Pete was unobtrusive throughout the wedding – only pinged me to get approval for songs on my not-to-play list. He pumped up the crowd and got them involved in dance-offs and really got the energy turned up. Dance floor was packed until the end of the night and everyone had a great time to say the least. More importantly the bride and groom were happy so I highly recommend having Pete as your DJ!

I highly recommend Beat Train and specifically Pete for DJ services. Ari at Beat Train was professional throughout the initial planning and contract phase and Pete was an amazing DJ. Ari also recommended the solo guitarist we used for our cocktail hour and he was wonderful! Pete handled our intros and all the formalities with ease and was accommodating and thoughtful throughout the night. He played the songs we requested and we relied on him to read the crowd in terms of other music selections – he did that “to a T” and had our guests dancing all night. He also graciously allowed my MOH to “co-DJ” – which was awesome and hysterical!
I cannot say enough good things about him as a wedding DJ, and I wholeheartedly recommend that any person seeking a DJ for their wedding hire him. Peter was the perfect choice for our wedding, and he went above our expectations for a DJ. Our wedding had 80 guests, ranging in age from 20 to 80, and I am pleased to say that every person there remarked at how wonderful a choice Peter was as a DJ. Peter provided energy to the wedding with his work, as he is extremely engaging without being over-the-top. After dinner, every person danced for three straight hours. I just wanted to send you a quick note to let you know what an outstanding job Peter did at our wedding. He was professional and very obviously knew his stuff. And, at the wedding he was amazing. He was very attentive taking calls from me the day before and morning of. He did everything that we talked about and had the crowd going crazy! Our wedding was very fancy in a huge ballroom and the last thing that we wanted it to be was stuffy. Peter made sure that didn’t happen and at one point he had people dancing on the tables! I don’t think that I left the dance floor more than twice and I can honestly say that our wedding was the most fun that I’ve ever had. We had a great experience working with Beat Train Productions from the very beginning. I was particularly drawn to this company from the beginning because they are not your typical cheesy wedding DJ. We wanted to work with dependable and professional people who would provide great music for dancing at our wedding. We did not want music with organized dances, props, etc, and they were on the same page. Ari was courteous and professional. His correspondences were always prompt. I was able to have Pete O’Karma as our DJ for our wedding, and I’m so happy that he was available. Pete was wonderful to work with and clearly enjoys what he does. As the night went on, his music progressed through genres from the 50s to more popular music today. We hired Beat Train Productions for our April “destination” wedding in Lincoln, MA. After a few calls with Ari, we decided to meet with D’hana, one of his DJ’s available on our wedding date. We met with her and were immediately taken with her. She is a pleasant, professional person and was amazing at searching her music collection, which she brought along on her laptop. We kept mentioning genres and artists we liked, and she immediately found something similar or, in many cases, the exact thing we were looking for. It was great to have a concrete connection on what we wanted and what the DJ was going to play.
As the wedding day drew closer, we were late in giving her the “playlist” – and it probably wasn’t the best guidelines ever. However, our laissez-faire approach worked because D’hana ROCKED – it felt like our wedding was at a club. I probably left the dance floor maybe twice the whole night (to eat and use the bathroom!). When my bride’s father decided on the spur of the moment to have a father-daughter dance to a 1940′s song (forgive me for not remembering the name), D’hana not only had it/downloaded it, but she also seamlessly introduced it, and then after one other song by the same artist, seamlessly flowed back to dance music. It was absolutely amazing and really highlighted her DJ talents.
As per their web site, Beat Train Productions is not your typical wedding-DJ. If you’re looking for a cheesy DJ that will “entertain” your guests instead of making them dance, look elsewhere. If you want an unforgettable dance party that happens to be your wedding, I highly recommend D’hana!
D’hana is an amazing person overall and also an amazing DJ. She is flexible, personable, fun and she makes the experiences that she is hired for very memorable due to her amazing ability to connect to the audience and the needs of the client.
D’hana has worked with Teen Voices in several capacities over the years. She worked as the DJ for our fundraising events for adult stakeholders held at local bars/restaurants and also as the DJ for our annual writing conference held at Simmons College. These are clearly 2 very different types of events for 2 very different groups of people and D’hana handled each of them with ease. Each time the level of professionalism was OUTSTANDING! She never makes any request seem impossible, even if it’s something last minute. Music is such an integral part of any good event– and in many ways, the music and the professionalism of the DJ can make it or break it, so having D’hana with us for so many different types of events at Teen Voices is a testament to how great having her as a DJ has made our events in the past. It’s been so totally cool working with D’hana over the years and we hope to continue working with her in the future! In a nutshell, I’m basically saying she rocks!
The whole experience with Beat Train was great! When I called I had originally spoke with Ari (the owner) and we assessed which DJ was both available and meshed well with our musical tastes – and that DJ was D’hana. After speaking with her a few times and exchanging e-mails back and forth, it was so very apparent that Ari was absolutely correct! On the day of the ceremony, D’hana was amazing. She managed to play so much of the desired music and still managed to play music that other people wanted to hear – while never playing anything that I had specified that I did not want to hear.
